Mentors – The Heart of Our Mission

The single most important factor in fostering resiliency in a person is exposing them to a caring and committed relationship with a mature adult. It is this kind of support that provides guidance, encouragement and a model to the mentee. That’s why committed mentors are at the core of BYSM’s mission.

Our mentors are trained and highly qualified. In addition, their diversity, education and passion are critical to helping our participants explore and exercise the best options for their lives, and they are determined to stand by a participant’s side for at least one year. Whether participants move to a new school in a new neighborhood or a new job across town, our mentors remain committed to them, believing in them and encouraging them to believe in themselves.

Not ready to mentor? Good news is that there are multiple ways you can volunteer. We are always looking for chaperones, event planners/coordinators, drivers, childcare providers during in-house programs/activities, general helpers, to name a few. Just select the dropdown box under “Areas of Interest” and select what is perfect for you.
