At-Risk Single Parents
By Your Side Ministries (BYSM) is committed to standing in the gap for young parents by providing life-building resources that address the real challenges impacting their daily lives. Beyond support, we equip mothers to grow as advocates — for themselves, their children, and other families facing similar barriers. Our goal is not only stability for today, but leadership for tomorrow.
We help young mothers understand how local decisions shape issues like childcare access, housing stability, education opportunities, transportation, healthcare, and workplace policies. Through leadership development and community engagement, mothers gain the confidence and knowledge to participate in civic life in meaningful ways.
This may include:
- Speaking at school board meetings about educational support for student-parents
- Attending city council or county commission meetings related to housing, childcare, or transportation
- Participating in community forums on family services
- Serving on parent advisory boards or community committees
- Engaging in voter education and registration efforts
- Sharing lived experiences in discussions about policies affecting young families
- Helping organize conversations that bring other parents into civic dialogue
BYSM’s work moves young mothers from simply navigating systems to understanding, influencing, and helping improve them — positioning them as leaders who can shape a stronger future for their families and communities.
At-risk Youth
The teen years (ages 13 to 19) are challenging for any young person. With the support of loving, attentive parents, involved, compassionate teachers and prayerful spiritual influences, most teens emerge from adolescence with the tools to transition successfully into adulthood.
But what about those who have been neglected by their parents? Those whose teachers feel too overworked and underpaid to emotionally invest in their students? What about those with no spiritual support? Who will reach them…teach them…love them…believe in them? BYSM will!
BYSM will stand in the gap and provide life-building skills for these young people, addressing the issues that impact the development of their character and positioning them to take ownership of their futures.
